The Street is a world class youth and community centre located in the heart of Scarborough. The Street’s facilities include a climbing wall, café, recording studio, art studio, training rooms, office suites, community hall, meeting, conference and work spaces and dance studios.
The Street is managed by Coast and Vale Community Action (CAVCA – see www.cavca.org.uk) a not for profit organisation that works in the Scarborough and Ryedale areas to improve the quality of life in local communities by supporting local voluntary and community organisations.
At The Street, CAVCA works in close partnership with North Yorkshire County Council Youth Support Services and others to provide a wide range of leisure and support services for young people and the wider community. These include education and training services, advice services, children’s social care, family support, self-help groups, arts and music activities, employment services and volunteering opportunities. In addition The Street is a hub for exciting, new and unusual sports, including dodge ball, gymnastics and ‘football tennis’.
The Street also includes 35 rentable units. These range from small offices for one or two people to larger spaces that could accommodate more than 20. Tenants’ facilities include reception services, a kitchen area, waiting rooms, a café area, disabled parking, a range of meeting and conference rooms, and a roof terrace and garden.
