Many Centres have first class IT facilities, including IT suites with banks of computers.
These facilities are used differently across the network in response to local needs. At the South Leeds Youth Hub the IT suite, which consists of 11 desktop PCs, a suite of laptops, wireless connectivity and a 65” touch screen, is used mornings, afternoons and evenings 6 days a week by young people and by the wider local community.
In the daytime The Hub's IT facilities are heavily used by local schools for the delivery of IT classes. Local libraries, Leeds City College, the local Connexions service and the Leeds Youth Service also use the Hub's IT facilities to provide IT training and support to their customers/clients.
In the evening the IT suite is dedicated to the young users of the Centre. For those that have questions to which they seek confidential answers and who prefer "remote" advice, an educational programme called Brainpop provides information and advice on personal, social and other issues relevant to young people. The suite is also used to provide IT training to young people who are encouraged to use the facilities to update regularly the Centre's social networking site on Facebook.
