Dancing

07 August 2013

Dancing is extremely popular with young people and a large number of Myplace Centres have invested in high quality dance facilities.

Hoxton Hall is a specialist Young Hackney Centre, offering free arts activities to young people aged 7 to 19 from the local community. Dance is a key part of its creative arts offer.  It is used to help participants to understand their own bodies as they grow and to become more physically aware of themselves and others.  Dancing also teaches discipline and cultural awareness, for example of what has gone before and our place in the world in which we live.

Hoxton Hall develop 'Social' dance styles which help to bond participants together and join in a shared appreciation and feeling in a way that is different to most other physical activities.  Developing ability in dance can also have tremendous effects on the physical fitness and confidence of young people.

"I have become more confident as a dancer and I am now more open to different things. I feel that I have matured more as a person and that Hoxton Hall is like a second home where I come and learn dance and enjoy being with my dance family"
