Address: The Station, Silver Street, Bristol, BS1 2AG
The Station has transformed the derelict Old Fire Station, right beside Bristol’s main shopping district, into a world class youth hub. It allows young people to be creative, to chill and to get support in the one, amazing, space.
Facilities at The Station include arts workshop spaces, a 250-seat theatre, music studios, a media editing suite, dance studios and much more. With the support of local charities such as Young Bristol and Basement Studios, The Station provides young people with support through youth work and music-related activities. The 222 Project provides young people who have struggled in mainstream education with alternative educational provision.
There are also a wide range of physical activities available including for dance, sport and fitness. A cafe, The Kitchen, is run with the help of the YMCA by young people for young people, providing them with a place to meet, talk and relax.
Young people can also access information and advice at The Station, for example on jobs and careers, housing or on sexual health. Organisations such as Off the Record Counselling, Nightstop Housing and Brook sexual health advice provide specialist support. Private rooms are available for one to one guidance and counselling.
The Station is programmed and managed by the Creative Youth Network (http://www.creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk/)
